2026, a year of miracles⭐️
Mission Neptune

17 January 2026, a historic day for the Ocean,
and for half of our Planet!

The entry into force of the High Seas Treaty (BBNJ) marks a major step forward for international ocean cooperation.

The Board of Trustees of Mission Neptune, co-chaired by IFREMER and the Institut océanographique de Monaco, together with all our Patrons and Founding Partners, warmly welcomes this milestone, in the wake of UNOC3 in Nice.

"The historic entry into force of the High Seas Treaty marks a new era for protection of nearly two-thirds of the global ocean. I am proud to be a Patron and Founding Member of Mission Neptune, which will play an important role in supporting this new agreement to protect the vast amount of ocean that lies in international waters - the global commons - which is crucial for protecting biodiversity and safeguarding carbon-rich marine ecosystems."
